Maria-Carmelita is excited to join the Center for Global Sustainability Law as its Board Secretary and General Counsel to leverage her legal background and 10 years of boots-on-the-ground success drafting technical and contractual documents. She has managed multimillion-dollar water security, sanitation waste management, and hygiene projects across Africa, the Caribbean, and Pacific Island Countries and Territories, balancing efficiency, legal risk, regulatory compliance, and program goals with environmental, social, and climate risks.
Born and raised in Haiti for the first 13 years of her life, Carmelita learned early how to adapt, rebuild, and navigate complex dynamics with grit, resilience, and integrity. She is fluent in Haitian Creole, English, and French.
